How to file for divorce in Texas without knowing where the spouse is?

Marriage was November 2002, Bell County Texas. Lasted 2 months at most. They have not seen or spoken to each other since then. He does not know where to find her for her to sign papers. He also does not live in Texas but in Michigan. What is the proper way to file for a divorce? Can it be done without a lawyer?|||You would have to exercise "due diligence" in attempting to locate the missing spouse. This would involve making a skip trace attempt. If she has his social security number it may be easy to do on line. If he can't be located--and most people can unless they are hiding out in the woods--he would be served by publication which means publishing a legal ad in a newspaper of general circulation in the place where he is believed to be.





The local library should have a book in the self-help section about doing your own divorce. Read it. Twice. This is not something you want to screw up.|||Consult an attorney. I gather you are not talking about yourself.|||no you will need a laywer
